Mountain Climb - Take II

We picked a perfect day to climb Saddle Mountain again, this time with Matt! We had breathtaking views at the summit - you could see the ocean, Mt. Rainier, Mt St Helens, Mt Adams, and Mt Hood.

Summer in Wisconsin

We arrived in the Midwest for some wonderful sunny hot weather and used every moment to have fun together. The boys got to camp for the first time, had fun at Cedarburg Strawberry Festival and the 4th of July celebrations, and enjoyed day trips to the Rose Garden, Zoo, Lion's Den, Riveredge, and Holy Hill.

Winter and Spring Adventures

Where did the time go? We explore more of Portland with trips to:
- a styrofoam recycling plant,
- the Japanese Gardens,
- Emiley clan silliness,
- snow fun at Mazama Lodge, Timberline, and SkiBowl sledding,
- Mema and Grandpa Repasky fun in the Gorge,
- hikes at Tryon Creek and Stub Stewert State Parks,
- our first science fair,
- and our first broken bone experience.

First Mountain Climb

The boys and Jamie climbed Saddle Mountain over Memorial Day weekend (Matt couldn't make it because he sprained his ankle at basketball that week). It was a 2.5 mile hike up, really UP - 1633 feet rise to the summit. It took them two hours and the boys were so proud! They ate lunch 'in the cloud' and then headed back down.

Rieke EcoThink Club

Jamie has been busy coordinating a new eco/science club at Rieke Elementary this term. They meet once a month for an after-school class plus weekend hikes and volunteer activities. One of the highlights of this term was the creation of a '3Rs' music video for the school to kick off Earth week and the plastic recycling drive.
